2026 Resolutions for All Club & ASRDA Members

When we graduated from Square Dance Lessons, we learned about the 4 principles of Square Dancing during a celebration! Most have been put into practice:

1. FRIENDSHIP - FRIENDSHIP is one of the most prominent principles because you will and have made new friends.

2.  PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING - Demonstrating PATIENCE with yourself and your partner as you dance and UNDERSTANDING that all dancers, even the most seasoned ones, make mistakes.

4.  ACCOMPLISHMENT - The club members recognize that each of you has accomplished the list of Square Dance Calls. Now YOU can be the first dancers on the floor.  As a club, we wanted to celebrate your perseverance and accomplishments.

Right now, #3. The Principle of RESPONSIBILITY is needed in every ASRDA Club and the ASRDA Board.

As in kindergarten, all square dancers must take turns or assume RESPONSIBILITY for the smooth functioning of the club through being an active member of YOUR CLUB!

•Have you ever wondered who moves tables or puts down chairs before you come in?

•What about making coffee, fixing ice cold water, or bringing a snack?

•Have you ever wondered who sweeps the floor before and after the dance; helps clean up- putting those chairs back, washing the coffee pot, pouring out the water cooler?

•Wiping down the kitchen counter after snacks have been eaten?

•What about paying admission every time the club meets?  I know, you aren’t there to dance so why pay?  Well, the club still must pay for the place to dance, pay for the caller, cuer, line leader.

Club members – the same club members – usually step up and make the square dance evening pleasant for all the club members!  But what happens if they don’t do those things? Every club needs each member to help in some way so that everyone can enjoy the dance.

What job will you sign up for at your club?

Another option for NO VOLUNTEERS is a sign-up sheet.  Jobs can be listed, the date the volunteer is needed, and a club member’s name added. These can also be assigned.  If everyone helps, then the number of times you will need to fulfill it will be limited.

All DANCERS need to make a resolution in 2026 to take some responsibility and help YOUR club & ASRDA

Square Dancing Is FUN; a three-letter word with U in the middle

And ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU VOLUNTEER!
