HELP US KEEP THE MID-TEX FESTIVAL ALIVE!!!

Six weeks from today, “Pirates of Mid-Tex Festival” is scheduled to begin at 2:00 pm with a Trails End dance featuring local callers and cuers and a hospitality room.  That will end at 4:00 pm so dancers can go to dinner.  Dancing will begin again at 7:00 pm with a full hour of pre-rounds before square and round dancing from 8:00 to 10:00 pm.  We will have Tim Tyl AND Ken Burke as callers.  These guys have called together in the past and have not only entertained the audience with their calling and harmonizing but also with their humor.  Where else can you get a comedy show and a square dance at the same time?

Sally and Bob Nolen are well known in the round dance community.  They are outstanding instructors as well as consummate cuers.  They have written a dance that will be danced for the first time at Mid-Tex.  What an honor that is going to be!  I’m pretty sure the dance is a Bolero.

During the day on Saturday, we are offering more workshops than have ever been offered at a Mid-Tex Festival.  We have reserved Christ Lutheran Church for three round dance workshops each lasting from 1 ¾ to 2 hours.  At Georgetown Community Center there will be four 90 minute workshops starting with C1, then A2, then Plus, ending with Mainstream.

The evening starts at 5:30 with an hour long A2 dance.  Afterwards there is another hour of Pre-Rounds.  The main dance will be from 7:30 – 10:00 pm followed by a star tip at 10:00 pm.  This is almost 14 hours of dancing in two days for only $35.00 per person!  We will also have a brown bag raffle, split-the -pot, and a silent auction on both Friday and Saturday evenings.  If you don’t want to come is square dance attire – come as a pirate on one or both evenings!

HERE IS THE CATCH – We have to have dancers pre-register NOW.  We need to have 91 paying dancers for the entire weekend just to break even.  We currently have 11 (ELEVEN!) paying dancers registered.  The Mid-Tex Committee and the ASRDA delegates will be meeting on April 10th   (that is in TWO WEEKS) to decide whether or not to cancel Mid-Tex and how much money we are willing to lose in order to go ahead with the Festival.

There is absolutely NO RISK to pre-registering.  Our treasurer is not even going to cash registrants’ checks until we know for sure we are having Mid-Tex.  If we cancel, you automatically get your money (check) back.   If you pre-register and change your mind – even at the last minute – you can cancel for a full refund.  There really is NO RISK to registering early.

The Mid-Tex Committee has been working really hard for two years to bring you the best Mid-Tex ever.  It is now up to you as dancers to make it happen.  YOU CAN DO THIS!  We will let everyone know the final decision on Sunday April 11, 2022.

The flyer and registration form are attached.  Print it, fill it out, write your check, and mail it back now!.  So simple!

Thanks in advance for registering.
